Welcome!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greyhound Friends gets homeless dogs home <\/strong>– especially purpose-bred dogs like sighthounds who are overbred or discarded when no longer “useful.” We adopt dogs to responsible, loving homes in Massachusetts and throughout New England. We also work to educate the public about the need for adoption and humane treatment of all dogs everywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you want to adopt, please download and complete a Pre-adoption Application<\/a> and schedule a visit to meet our available dogs. Greyhounds, sighthounds, and mixed breed dogs are arriving to the shelter on a regular basis. The adoption fee is $1000 for all domestic and international dogs. These fees cover only a portion of the dogs’ transport and care costs: we rely on donations from generous friends to fund the rest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spring Open House Is May 16 – Come Join Us!<\/strong>\u00a0\"\ud83d\udc99\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adopters, supporters, neighbors and friends are all invited to attend\u00a0Greyhound Friends’ Spring Open House<\/a>\u00a0on Saturday, May 16. Please join us and bring your pups too!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day\u2019s offerings include “alumni” reunions, visits with adoptable dogs, fun runs & contests, vendors, music courtesy of Millennium Entertainment<\/a>, refreshments with pizza by Crust & Company<\/a>, a silent auction & raffles, a remembrance ceremony (at noon) and information on the work helping sighthounds find great homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vendors include\u00a0Happy Hounds plant based soap<\/a>, Mingo Bling<\/a> jewelry,\u00a0E Low Designs Handcrafted cards<\/a>, art & cowls by Laurie Beth Gaines<\/a>, paracord crafts by Zuryiah<\/a>, and to top off the fun, the\u00a0Uhlman’s Ice Cream<\/a>\u00a0Truck with delicious treats for both people and pups!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everyone is invited. Even if you haven’t adopted from Greyhound Friends, this is a great opportunity to come meet the dogs and learn from lots of sighthound owners why these breeds are such amazing additions to our homes.\ud83d\udc99\ud83d\udc9a<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remembrance Ceremony Submissions Invited<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of our Open House, Greyhound Friends will hold a Remembrance Ceremony in our Memorial Garden. If you\u2019ve lost a special dog friend since we last gathered and you would like their name included in the ceremony, please email smelhado@comcast.net<\/a> to add them to the list. Please feel free to include a sentence or two about what made them extra special to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greyhound Friends on Channel 25’s Furever Friday<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Look who made her big TV debut on Boston 25’s Furever Friday: Pepper! She’s a young saluki mix (including some GSD and Dalmatian!) rescued in Qatar. Pepper is looking for a calm home with people who can protect her from surprise encounters with other dogs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pepper was a bit nervous about the new place and new people at the TV studio, but we’re glad she could get some wider exposure so her forever person can find her. She’s a special girl, and her “special needs” aren’t too complicated, for an experienced owner willing to make some adjustments for her to be secure and safe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volunteers Needed to Staff Info Tables, Help with Meet & Greet Coordination and Tech Tasks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udc99 Staffing information tables at area events and meet & greets – learn by shadowing experienced volunteers, then expand to new locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udc99 Aiding the social media effort and office staff with technical projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udc99 Coordinating volunteers for on-site and off-site events – a growing area of need as we expand our community presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
